...this was the pleasure of the participants of the workshop on vibration technology. The workshop, which was launched in 1986 and is currently led by Prof. Jörg Bienert from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences, has already taken place for the 46th time.

The interdisciplinary composition and interlinking is what makes the group so attractive. Mechanical engineers, aeronautical engineers, automotive engineers, civil engineers and consulting engineers from universities and industry come together regularly. Doctoral students also have the opportunity to present their work here, such as this time Ms Özge Akar from FAU Erlangen, who is doing her doctorate on the vibration behaviour of violins.

This year's workshop was hosted by Siemens Industry Software, which has test systems for vibration technology.

The contact to Stuttgart 21 came about through a long-standing participant from the field of construction dynamics. Thus, the latest state of practical application of vibration isolation in track construction (i.e. noise and vibration protection for residents) could be examined at the construction site. All in all, a very impressive tour of the world-famous construction site of the century. Prof. Bienert sums it up in a nutshell: "The visitor is first impressed by the sensational cup structures. The vibration-relevant components are rather hidden in plain sight. The insulation concept is unique in this way."
