To improve the personal development and career opportunities of female students in the field of technology and computer science, the THI offers two mentoring programmes: study IN (for first semester students) and work IN (for students in higher semesters). The mentoring project offers young women the opportunity to network (in male-dominated study programmes), to establish contact, to find support and to learn about opportunities and perspectives in the German industry. Good German language skills are required to participate in the work IN programme.
BayernMentoring - What is it?
The BayernMentoring programme has been successfully run at the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt since 2005 and is connected to the BayernMentoring of the State Conference of Women's Representatives at Bavarian HAWs (Universities of Applied Sciences). It is a state-wide project for the advancement of women in technical and computer science degree programmes in which all Bavarian HAWs participate.
Our Programmes:
study IN for first-semester students (junior level) in technical & computer science courses
- JuniorMentee: As a first-semester student, you will be supported by a female student in the higher semester, preferably from the same degree programme, for your start at the THI.
- JuniorMentor: As a student in a higher semester, you accompany a first-year student at the start of her studies.
work IN for female students in the higher semesters (professional level) in technical & computer science courses
- ProfiMentee: As a female student in the 3rd semester of a Bachelor's degree or a female Master's student in the 1st semester, you will receive career-oriented support from an academic.
- ProfiMentor: An engineer or computer scientist from industry share advice and experience with female students.
The Mentoring programme offers a supporting programme with seminars, relaxed meetings, theme evenings or company excursions. Mentoring participants can improve their soft skills in various workshops (on site and virtually), organized by different Bavarian universities that are part of BayernMentoring.
study IN
Are you a new international female degree student in an engineering or computer science program? Looking for support during your first semester, a possibility to get to know new people and to get familiar with German life? Become a mentee and enjoy a semester full of exchanges and helpful support from a fellow student!
An experienced student (= JuniorMentor) of the same or similar field of study supports you by passing on her own experiences from her start. StudyIN is a group mentoring programme , i.e. several students from the same degree programme are supported by one JuniorMentor. The programme starts each winter semester and lasts for one academic year.
We also offer network events, workshop and excursions during the year. Please note, that while the language of your mentoring group is English, most of the activities will be in German (in cooperation with the German Mentoring Programme) - a good opportunity to practice your German and make contacts to native Germans. However, it is no problem to take part without profound German knowledge.
The next start of studyIN is in the winter semester 2026/27. Registration deadline for JuniorMentees (=first and second semester students) and JuniorMentors (=senior semester students) is in the middle of October 2026. Female students who start the semester delayed are also welcome to register online and then join the program on-site later.
Registration info
As a first-semester or higher-semester student, you can register first in the online tool Matorix, and then sign up for the corresponding programme. Please note the registration guide:
Set up registration/login (necessary once)
- Fill in "My data"
- Fill in "Profile"
- Confirm application
Note: You will need your login data (identifier and password) every time you log in via the Matorix registration tool. This also applies to registrations for events within the framework of BayernMentoring. If you are a student and participate in several programmes in different functions, a one-time registration is sufficient. Participants who already registered in the previous mentoring year only need to register in the corresponding programme with their profile data.
