Ingolstadt International Lecture Series on Electric Mobility

This winter semester, Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt is once again organising the "International Lecture Series on Electromobility". Due to the high demand and interest, this is now the sixth time in a row. This year, the lecture series is in close cooperation with the HYPOBATT project (Hyper powered vessel battery charging System). The project brings together 18 partners from all over Europe. The aim is to develop a fast charging system for ships and to demonstrate it at selected locations. During the lecture series, individual partners will introduce themselves and explain what tasks such a large-scale project entails and how they can be solved.

All speakers will present live, so please note the sometimes different starting times and days of the week due to the time difference. All presentations will be in English, will take place via Zoom and will also be broadcast to all participating partner universities. After the presentations (each lasting 30 min), the speakers will be available to answer questions.

The audience is made up of students, industry professionals and mobility enthusiasts of all ages. You are very welcome, we look forward to your participation. Registration for the event is not necessary. Please click on the zoom link provided in good time before the start of the respective event.

A final remark on expected outcomes will also be presented.

Thursday, Nov. 17, 2022 “HYPOBATT: Electrification of vessels”

Speaker: Guido Gommer - Wabtec / Germany

Time: 18:00 (6 p.m.)

In this lecture, the EU project HYPOBATT will be presented with its objectives and overview of the work order. A brief presentation of Stemmann-Technik a Wabtec Company will be done, with the company’s areas of focus on electrification and which tasks and challenges will be evaluated within the HYPOBATT project. A final remark on expected outcomes will also be presented.

Monday, Nov. 21, 2022 “COBRA Introduction”

Speaker: Nikkolas Jaroch, Serkan Sevnic - Carissma / Germany

Time: 18:00 (6 p.m.)

Zoom-Link:

https://thi-de.zoom.us/j/66468351622?pwd=NEJCeW1sOSs3ZFdFbWRucGhydVJHdz09
In this lecture, the EU project COBRA will be presented in detail, ranging from the overall goals of using no Cobalt and achieving an even higher energy density than current technology, to the already developed concepts and prototype system. By the time of the lecture, the first prototype and performance results may also be ready to be discussed.

Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022 “SAFIR-AVENUE: Influence of electrification on accident analysis”

Speaker: Thomas König - Carissma / Germany

Time: 18:00 (6 p.m.)

Zoom-Link:

https://thi-de.zoom.us/j/63935658667?pwd=SzZrZU92VlAwck5FK1Uyc2FtNmJMUT09
This lecture presents the research work in the SAFIR-AVENUE project, which deals with the development of new methods for the reconstruction of road traffic accidents. In the pre-crash phase, the changed driving behaviour of an electrically powered vehicle compared to a vehicle with a combustion engine must be taken into account. During the in-crash phase, the vehicle design changed by the battery pack plays a particularly important role, especially with regard to the center of gravity and the deformation behavior. Finally, in the post-crash phase, new hazard potentials arise that must be taken into account when rescuing people from and fighting fires on electric vehicles.

Thursday, Dec. 08, 2022 “AG Reederei Norden-Frisia Introduction”

Speaker: Maraike Pommer  - AG Reederei Frisia / Germany
Time: 18:00 (6 p.m.)

Zoom-Link:

Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022 “Rhoe Introduction“

Speaker: George Kostalas  - Rhoe / Greece

Time: 18:00 (6 p.m.)

In this lecture, the EU project HYPOBATT will be presented in detail. At first, Rhoé will be introduced. There will be a list of the various research areas we are interested in as well as an overview of a few of the projects in which we are involved. Also on display will be the r&d items. Then, we will go into detail about how we fit into the HYPOBATT project. Last but not least, we'll showcase the benefits this project will have on the larger community.

Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023 “Charging of Damen vessels”

Speaker: Peter Rampen - DAMEN / Netherlands

Time: 18:00 (6 p.m.)

Damen has already some experience of developing and realizing charging systems for fully electric operating vessels. The solutions are developed dedicated for specific ship types. For the next step in electrification of shipping “charging as a service” have to be available on all locations that the ships are operating. This requires standard charging solution for interoperability. The (Megawatt) charging standards for automotive are a promising basis for such a maritime charging standard. However implementing these standards comes with challenges.
