Advice for students

Student Advisory Service

Your academic success is important to us! Whether you’re just starting your degree at THI, have questions about your course of study, or are facing challenges in your day-to-day student life, the Student Advisory Service is here to support you with a wide range of services and personalised guidance. Together with internal support services and external network partners, you’ll receive support on topics such as organising your studies, finding your feet at university, learning strategies or personal challenges.

Make the most of the various advisory services to get off to a good start with your studies, make well-informed decisions and find the right support at an early stage should you encounter any difficulties. The Student Advisory Service will support you throughout your studies and help you to successfully shape your personal and academic journey.

Individual support

Students at THI can contact the student counselling if they have any questions about the organisation of their studies, the planning of their studies and, in particular, if they have any challenges during their studies. The consultations are individual, personal and take place in a confidential setting.

Office hours, contact and further information can be found on Moodle.

Doubts about your studies? - Continue? Change? Cancel?

A change of course of study or a switch to vocational training or further education does not have to be a break in the leg, but is often a special opportunity to pursue your personal inclination.
On the way to making a decision, you will be supported by the student advisory service and a network of experienced specialist counselling centres.

You can find further information and contact details for the individual contact points on Moodle.

Further questions on other topics?

"Questions about studying" are manifold, sometimes complex. For many topics there is not just one contact person. Therefore, it may be necessary to contact the relevant contact persons before or after contacting the student counselling and to include the result in an appointment with the student counselling for further study planning. In the following you will find an overview of the most important contacts to whom you should turn directly for specific topics. However, if you are unsure, the student counselling will also be happy to help you find the right contact person.

Leave of absence from studies

Students may, upon application, be granted a temporary exemption from their regular studies for important personal, health or family reasons (leave of absence, Art. 93(2) and (3) BayHIG). A leave of absence allows students to focus on particular life circumstances for a limited period without having to give up their membership of the university. During the leave of absence, student status generally remains in force, meaning that affiliation with Ingolstadt University of Technology is maintained. On this page, you will find information on the eligibility criteria, the possible reasons for taking a leave of absence, the required application documents and the procedure involved.
