For many prospective students, it is the first major decision they have to make on their own. This presents plenty of challenges, and we’d like to support you through them on our website.

The best way to gain an insight into a degree programme is through personal experience. Ingolstadt University of Technology therefore offers a range of events to provide information to prospective students
Faculty Bachelor’s Talks: Prospective Bachelor’s students have the chance to find out more about their chosen degree programme! In 60 minutes, you’ll learn everything you need to know about degree programmes, studying and career prospects.
Every year in spring/summer, the University Information Day takes place at THI in Ingolstadt and in Neuburg. The university presents itself and all its degree programmes at the event. As well as the opportunity to speak to lecturers, students, the Student Advisory Service or companies involved in dual study programmes, there is also an extensive programme of talks and other events. Further details on the current University Information Day will be available below in the Student Advisory Service’s events calendar and the THI events calendar once published.
Prospective students have the opportunity to try out university life for an extended period in the autumn, immediately after the start of the semester. At the heart of this series of events are the regular lectures, which are open and available to attend until mid-November. The taster days begin with study orientation workshops and include further informative elements relating to study orientation.
The Open Campus Online takes place before the taster days in the autumn and offers a brief digital overview of degree programmes at THI and its fields of study.
The THI FUTURELAB is open to all curious and inquisitive school pupils. Through this platform, the University of Applied Sciences shares its knowledge and network across a wide range of fields. The workshops and other activities on offer are also ideal for gaining an insight into a particular subject area and can therefore help pupils choose their course of study.

This is an opportunity for whole groups, as well as individual pupils, to register and get a taste of what it’s like to study at THI during the final days of term. This day is particularly well suited as a school excursion.
The Virtual Open Day provides information about the international degree programmes and the university itself. You will also receive information about the application process and how best to prepare for your stay in Germany. Afterwards, staff will answer your individual questions in Q&A sessions.
The THI Student Advisory Service helps participants explore options to help them make a personal decision about their studies.
The study orientation workshop takes place on-site one morning during the Bavarian school holidays.
Several sessions each semester give you the opportunity to get to know the university quickly and concisely. The sessions begin in a lecture theatre at THI with the Student Advisory Service presenting the range of degree programmes and providing information on studying, applications and so on. You will then get to know the university first-hand on a guided tour of the campus. Students will also be present to share their first-hand experiences of everyday student life at THI. Finally, you will have the chance to have one-to-one conversations with these students and the Student Advisory Service to find out about the degree programmes at first hand.

As a Student Consultant, you’ll work very closely with the THI Student Advisory Service as part of a small team of students to help you find the right course! The programme is a unique element of career guidance and personal development. It also looks great on your CV ;-)
You’re an expert on your own generation and are currently navigating your career path. As a student consultant, you can contribute this expert knowledge to THI’s Student Advisory Service. You’ll receive exclusive support on your journey through the academic guidance process and, through projects with other prospective students, current students, lecturers, researchers, companies and other educational partners, you’ll gain an understanding of relevant content and skills within the various fields of study.

The University News provides a concise summary of the latest information for prospective students.
It is important to be well prepared before starting a degree. Experience shows that not all first-year students have a solid grounding in the core subjects. Sometimes it has been a long time since they left school, or they may not have attended upper secondary school at all, or their previous results in subjects such as mathematics or physics may not have been at the highest level. To minimise teething problems and ensure the best possible conditions for your studies, it is strongly recommended that you assess your own foundational knowledge and refresh it where necessary. This is the aim of the courses, which take place in the weeks leading up to the start of the semester (in September).
In particular, those embarking on a technical degree should critically assess their knowledge of mathematics and physics. It is strongly recommended that you enrol on the bridging course in mathematics or physics if:
However, (very) high-achieving A-level students who wish to refresh their knowledge before starting their degree are also welcome. Furthermore, it is possible to join the courses at alater stage, up to the third semester. In principle, the courses are open to all students – regardless of their degree programme.
We strongly advise all master craftsmen and those with vocational qualifications who wish to embark on a technical degree to consider further options to supplement their school-leaving qualifications. Vocationaluppersecondaryschools offer ideal preparation for university study. Other forms of study that can cater more flexibly to students’ specific needs, such as part-time study programmes, are also recommended.
The ‘Schulwissen’ bridging courses in Mathematics and Physics help students get off to a good start at university. They do not really cover university-level material, but focus primarily on upper secondary school content, thereby providing a bridge for a smooth transition from school to university. The bridging courses are designed to provide additional support and opportunities for practice; however, they are not intended as tuition sessions for the mathematics lecture or other subjects.

Enrolment for the courses is handled by vhs Ingolstadt and is always open from around three months before the course starts. It is binding and must be completed in good time! (Search for “Brückenkurs”)

In particular, the part-time degree programme at our university’s Campus for Continuing Education is precisely tailored to prospective students without A-levels. The recognition of prior learning from previous training and further education, as well as from practical experience, results in shorter study periods. Tailor-made programmes for beginners without a traditional A-level qualification and intensive support from lecturers in small groups provide comprehensive support throughout your studies. Block teaching and weekend lectures allow you to work alongside your studies to finance your time at university.
