About Institute for Lifelong Learning
Studying part-time at THI
Would you like to develop professionally and personally without interrupting your career? Since 2008, the Institute for Lifelong Learning (TCW) at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt has been offering practical programmes that perfectly combine study and work.
Our courses are designed so that you can apply new knowledge directly in your day-to-day work. Small groups, a strong practical focus and close collaboration with businesses ensure an effective learning environment.
Throughout your studies, our staff will be on hand to support you – from organisational and financial matters to questions about the course content
Villa Heydeck, a former director’s villa in the north of the Ingolstadt foundry site, has been the official headquarters of the Institute for Lifelong Learning since January 2017, and of the Campus for Lifelong Learning since 1 January 2024.
The building is situated on the north side of the THI campus. In addition to 34 office workstations, the villa also houses seminar rooms and is used for university events.
Access is via Östliche Ringstraße.
Quality management at the Campus for Lifelong Learning
The quality of academic study and teaching has always been of great importance at the Campus for Lifelong Learning. Special attention is paid to the profile feature "further education" when reviewing (accrediting) the study courses:
- Can the study course really be studied well "alongside the job"?
- Is the professional experience of the students sufficiently taken into account?
- Are current topics taught academically?
These and other questions about the quality of the study courses are asked and reflected upon in the accreditation procedures. An external group of experts (the advisory board) checks whether the study courses meet the requirements. Successful accreditation of the study courses is based on fulfilment of the criteria of the Bavarian Study Accreditation Ordinance.
Once the procedures have been completed, the study courses are accredited and entered into theAccreditation Council's database of accredited study courses. The accreditation is thus also internationally recognised. Accredited further education programmes provide students with the best possible qualifications.
An overview of the accreditation status of the study courses at the Campus for Lifelong Learning can be found here: Accreditation certificates (thi.de)
Our understanding of quality
In 2015, the Campus for Lifelong Learning was the first Bavarian institute for further education to be awarded the "partial system accreditation" seal of approval. The entire university is now system-accredited.
As early as 2012, the Campus for Lifelong Learning formulated a binding Code of Quality and thus committed itself to continuous improvement in academic study and teaching. In order to continuously drive this process forward, the decision was made in summer 2013 to carry out a partial system accreditation for the Campus for Lifelong Learning. In 2014, a comprehensive quality management system was developed and established with the aim of sustainable and systematic quality assurance and further development on campus.
THI has been system-accredited since October 2022 and is therefore authorised to carry out the accreditation procedures for its study courses itself. You can find more information online at THI Quality Management.
