Former THI professor publishes Practical Guideline

Prof. Dr.-Ing. emer. Maximilian Schmidt began his career in 1984 as a development engineer for automation systems at Siemens AG. After completing his doctorate in the special field of flexible assembly times, he applied his knowledge at a leading milling machine manufacturer. Subsequently, he was chief executive of DGV/BDS (Bund der Selbstständigen) Bavaria and a management consultant. In 2001 he joined the THI as professor for production engineering and work preparation. There he integrated the REFA methodology (methods for the optimization of work organization) and successfully conducted the REFA basic training for students. In 2010 he received the award for outstanding teaching at Bavarian universities.

He now records his outstanding practical and teaching experience in a practical guide. The book addresses future and practicing production planners by conveying selected basics and methods of efficient design of assembly workplaces in a compact way. It supports the planning of human work in industrial assembly. Thus, companies and employees can benefit from this practical guide in the same way.
