Professor Schober has already helped steer the fortunes of the Association of Bavarian Universities of Applied Sciences for the past eight years, including the last four years as Chairman. "The Bavarian universities of applied sciences have made excellent progress in recent years thanks to the opportunities created by the High-Tech Agenda and the Higher Education Innovation Act, as evidenced not least by the independent right to award doctorates," summarises Professor Schober. At the same time, universities face a variety of challenges for society as a whole. "For universities to continue to make their contribution to the technological, ecological, economic, and social development of society, they need not only autonomy but also financial and human resources that are adequate for their tasks," Professor Schober states with a view to his upcoming term of office.

Professor Schober is supported by an extended Executive Board team: Professor Martin Leitner and Professor Gordon Thomas Rohrmair were also unanimously elected as Deputy Chairmen. Professor Martin Leitner, President of Munich University of Applied Sciences, had already held the office of Deputy Chairman for the past four years and has now been elected by the members for a third term of office.

Professor Gordon Thomas Rohrmair, President of Augsburg University of Applied Sciences, was newly appointed to the Board. He takes over the position of Deputy Chairman from Dr Eric Veulliet, who has been a member of the Board of Hochschule Bayern e.V. for the past two years and did not stand for re-election. The term of office of the newly elected Board of Directors begins on the 15th of March 2024 and lasts two years.

Verbund Hochschule Bayern e.V. represents the interests of Bavarian universities of applied sciences and technical universities. It communicates the goals and activities of the universities to the ministry, politicians, and the public. Members of Hochschule Bayern e.V. are all Bavarian state universities of applied sciences and non-state universities of applied sciences under church sponsorship.
