On a voyage of discovery into the future

On November 22, young people can explore desirable and alternative futures for the city of Pfaffenhofen. The Zukünfte-Labor of the Stadtjugendpflege takes place under the direction of Dr. Stefan Bergheim of the Zentrum für gesellschaftlichen Fortschritt, Dr. Gerhard Schönhofer of the Foresight Institute of the THI and Michaela Härtl of the Parents' Council of the Schyren-Gymnasium.

Under the motto "Pfaffenhofen 2040", interested parties can design scenarios, discuss them and understand their implications as part of a professionally conducted futures lab. All teenagers and young adults from the age of 15 can take part - completely independent of their prior knowledge or level of education. The Futures Expedition offers participants the opportunity to develop images of the future and to reveal and better understand their own, often hidden, preconceptions about what might come. After all, there is not just one future. Rather, many different futures are possible and we can make these imaginings of ourselves and others visible and usable. The goal of the Futures Expedition is to make hidden assumptions about the future tangible, to experiment with them, and to go on an expedition from probable to desirable futures. This allows participants to recognize that their images of the future already influence their actions today and to align the two.

Participation in the Zukünfte workshop on November 22, from 1 to 6 p.m., at the Jugendtalentstation Utopia, Bistumerweg 5, in Pfaffenhofen/Sulzbach is free of charge. Drinks and catering will also be provided free of charge. The registration for maximally 20 participation places is possible starting from 1 November under utopia@stadt-pfaffenhofen.de.

The basic concept of the Futures Literacy Labs emerged from initiatives of UNESCO, which declared a general "futures literacy" to be a core competence of the 21st century. In the different phases of the lab, numerous and unimagined futures are imagined and the imagination of the participants is stimulated. In this way, new ideas for dealing with the future can emerge.
