New honorary professor at the THI

On July 10th, Prof. Bernd Martens gave his inaugural lecture on corporate social responsibility and leadership. The industrial engineer who holds a doctorate will continue to teach at the WI faculty.

Prof. Bernd Martens has already been associated with the THI since 2014 and holds the lectures "Global Sourcing and Strategic Supplier Integration" as well as "Corporate Social Responsibility" in the Master programme "Digital Procurement & Sustainable Supply Chain Management". When handing over the appointment certificate, THI President Walter Schober emphasized: "We are pleased to have Prof. Martens as our now third honorary professor at THI. Prof. Martens brings a broad international leadership experience that he can pass on to our students."

Prof. Bernd Martens studied industrial engineering at the University of Kaiserslautern from 1986 to 1992 and received his doctorate with a thesis on "Communication and Cooperation as Key Factors of Successful Group Work". This was followed by professional positions at Mercedes Benz AG and Roland Berger & Partner GmbH. In 1997, Martens moved to Volkswagen do Brasil, where he was a division manager and director. From 2012 to 2020, he was a member of the Board of Management of Audi AG. Since 2021, Prof. Martens has been working as an independent management consultant, among other activities.
