Autonomous driving, drones and Spike the robot dog: This is how the THI and the Ingolstadt Mobility Region present themselves at the IAA

From September 5th to 10th, 2023, the international mobility industry will meet for the second time in Munich. The City of Ingolstadt and the THI will be represented with their partners at the Summit and the Open Space.

At the joint stand of the Ingolstadt mobility region, IFG Ingolstadt, THI, Ingolstädter Verkehrsgesellschaft (VGI), ZD Automotive, and MT Technologies will be presenting themselves to the trade fair public.

Among other things, ANTON, a vehicle that can communicate in the urban infrastructure with the aid of permanently installed sensors, will be on display. This feature makes automated driving even safer. One important aspect is the protection of personal data by blurring faces and license plates. Approaches for real-time anonymization of camera data are being developed at THI for this purpose. A KIVI demonstrator is also on display. In the underlying project "Artificial Intelligence in the Ingolstadt Traffic System" (KIVI), data-driven artificial intelligence methods are being developed to improve traffic control and traffic safety in Ingolstadt. In KIVI, a High Definition Test (HDT) field is being set up, which includes three high-load intersections. At these intersections, local sensor technology will be used for real-time detection of all road users.

In addition, the booth will feature Urban Air Mobility, research into aerial vehicles for urban mobility. Visitors can also meet robot dog Spike, which can respond to commands and show emotions.

Ingolstadt is the mobility hub of the High-Tech Agenda Bavaria. At the THI, the CARISSMA Research and Test Center, and the AImotion Bavaria Institute, the mobility concepts of the future are being developed in collaboration with the city of Ingolstadt, especially in the areas of autonomous driving and unmanned flight. Artificial intelligence plays an essential role here.

In addition to its presence in exhibition hall B1, booth E21, the mobility region will also be represented in the IAA Open Space, at Ludwigstrasse 14, 80539 Munich, to communicate its research results to the interested public. The IAA appearance will be complemented by numerous presentations by THI experts as part of the conference program.
