Prof. Dr. Katharina Schauberger, Professor of Global Economics at THI Business School, was a guest on TV.Ingolstadt's talk show "Nachgefragt". As an expert on the subject of inflation, she first explained to the show’s host Werner Kipp exactly how the inflation rate is determined. She then went into detail about the factors that are causing the current high inflation rates, such as the rise in energy prices. She expects inflation to remain high in the coming months before returning to normal by the middle of next year. However, she believes that normalization can only occur if global supply bottlenecks can be addressed and a wage-price spiral avoided. She also discussed measures the European Central Bank could take to lower inflation.
