Important facts for all Master applicants
The qualification requirements of all the master courses are named in the respective study and examination regulation (usually in § 3, § 4 or § 5).
All the study and examination regulations can be found on the pages of our legal department.
Some of the study and examination regualtions unfortunately only are available in German.
Decisions regarding equivalence are made from the respective examination board after an application was submitted with all the demanded documents and checked from the employees of the university.

In detail you need to take the following steps:
- Register in PRIMUSS application portal (link can be found above)
- fill questions
- add study course(s)
- upload demanded documents
- send application online
For application it's not necessary to submit hardcopies.
Applicants whose relevant pre-studies were acquired outside of Germany need to follow another process. All the necessary information can be found on our page for Masterapplication from abroad.
For your application you do not have to submit certified copies of your documents.
It is absolutely sufficient to scan your documents and upload them in the PRIMUSS-application portal.
In case of admission you have to send certified hardcopies of all the documents named in the letter of admission to the THI to process enrollment. All necessary information will be available on your letter of admission and on our page admission and enrollment.
Please apply online within the application period, upload the demanded documents online (you will only be asked for a current transcript in case you answered all questions truthfully), and send application online.
The final degree can be submitted later.
Yes. Changes in the upload-area as well as in the application-progress area in the PRIMUSS-application portal will be displayed instantly after an employee of the university checked on your application.
Important facts for specific Master applicants
Only applicants with a Bachelor’s course equivalent to a German study course with 210 ECTS can access the Master courses of the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt.
With a Bachelor’s Degree with 180 ECTS admission to the Master courses of the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt is not possible.
However the regulations of the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt provide the possibility of compensating the missing competences through working experience after graduating. The duration of the working experience must be at least 20 weeks (an das already mentioned after graduating from the Bachelor). Please upload proof of your working experience in the upload area of the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt. As soon as the status of the document turns to „OK“ we checked on it and your working experience is sufficient.
The following courses require an aptitude test:
- Applied Research in Engineering Sciences, German-taught (see § 6 SPO AR)
- Automated Driving and Vehicle Safety, German-taught (see § 4 SPO AUF)
- Automotive and Mobility Management, German-taught (see § 4 SPO AM for students starting in summer term 2020)
- Automotive Production Engineering (see § 4 SPO APE)
- International Automotive Engineering (see § 4 SPO IAE)
- Marketing, Sales and Media, German-taught (see § 5 SPO MV)
- Renewable Energy Systems (see § 4 SPO RES)
- Retail and Consumer Management (see § 4 SPO RCM)
- User Experience Design (see §4 SPO UXM)
Some of the study and examination regulations unfortunately only are available in German.
Except from the German-taught Master course Applied Research in Engineering Science all the aptitude tests are tests where applicants don't have to appear in person. They have to upload documents proving their experience in the core area of the Master course in the PRIMUSS-application portal.
The following Master courses demand proof of English language knowledge:
- Automotive Production Engineering
- Financial Management and Controlling
- International Automotive Engineering
- Renewable Energy Systems
- Retail and Consumer Management
- User Experience Design
For english-taught courses proof of English language knowledge level B2 is necessary. In the area General statutes of our legal department you can find the document "Anerkannte Englischtests B2" where all the recognized English tests are listed. This document unfortunately only exists on the German page, so you have switch the language to German in order to see it.
