RISE Germany 2021 - Research internships

To support internationalization in the natural and engineering sciences, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) places North American, British and Irish Bachelor students in research internships at German universities and research institutions.

During their internship, students are guided and supervised by a doctoral candidate. Since 2020, scientists at universities of applied sciences can now also offer research internships. The DAAD supports the internships taking place during the summer months with scholarships, financed by the German Foreign Office and through institutional cooperation.

Program structure & placement process
Providers can register in the RISE Germany database between 1 September and 15 October 2020 and post their internship offers online. After an examination by the DAAD these will be activated for interested students from November 1, 2020. Students from North America, Great Britain and Ireland can then apply online from November 1 to December 15, 2020. The DAAD plans to award up to 300 scholarships in 2021. The placement process at the DAAD takes place in coordination with the providers.

Application period: September 1 - October 15, 2020
Duration of the internship: 3 months (90 days); earliest start from 15.05.2021
