Goals and idea

The W001 laboratory is intended for the activities of Schanzer Racing. Since 2012, students have been building a single-seater formula racing car there every year in teamwork to compete against teams from all over the world. An investment in Schanzer Racing Electric also means a commitment to one of the most prestigious universities, the Ingolstadt University of Technology. They support us as young academics who, in times of a shortage of skilled workers, will become more than ever a success factor for Germany's economic strength.

Laboratory W001

Laboratory equipment and activities

Equipment and function

Electrical workstations with soldering stations and mechanical workstations are available for the assembly of the vehicle. The mechanical workstations include a drill press, a double grinding machine, angle grinder, cordless screwdriver and two tool trolleys.

Appropriate fully insulated tools are used for safe assembly of the high-voltage battery. The high-voltage battery is charged with a 600V high-voltage power supply unit integrated in a trolley.

Laptops are of course used for the analysis and programming of the electronic components. CANoe and MicroAutoBox are used here.

A large open is already planned, which will allow the car body to be created/fired by the customer.

Events

The vehicle is presented to the public for the first time at the rollout. At this festive occasion, details of the vehicle will also be announced and everyone will be able to take a close look at the car.

The competitions will take place in different countries depending on the qualification. After the technical as well as the safety approval, the vehicle has to pass static tests until it is sent to the racetrack and is allowed to pass several dynamic tests.
