Goals and idea

The aim is to impart basic methods in the field of high-frequency measurement technology as well as the practical training of students through practical courses and projects in the high-frequency laboratory accompanying the lectures.

Laboratory C306

Laboratory equipment and activities

Equipment and function
  • Measurement and analysis possibilities with the most modern measurement equipment such as spectrum analyzers, signal generators, vector network analyzers etc. in real time etc. for e.g.:
    - Linear and non-linear network analysis in time and frequency domain
    - Noise Measurement Technology
  • Microwave measuring station with vector network analysis and "Stanford Rubidium Front" time standard
  • Measuring station for antenna and cable testers, 25 MHz to 20 GHz
  • Electromagnetic environmental compatibility (EMCE)
  • Electrostatic discharge (ESD)
  • Measuring station in a shielded cabin
  • 4 PC laboratory workstations for circuit simulation
  • Two laboratory workstations for building metrological circuits (layout design, assembly frames, soldering) and our own Vision Engineering microscope
  • Projection screen with beamer
  • Separate seating area for students and project groups (meetings, workouts, etc.)
Courses

Lectures and practical courses:

  •     High Frequency Technology
  •     Fields and waves
  •     Communications Technology

Telemetry module study project:

  •     Installation and commissioning of the transmitter by means of an Evaluation Board at 433 MHz
  •     RF test (frequency spectrum, time function (data, modulation) of the transmitter, EIRP
  •     Radiation characteristics, transmission power etc.
  •     Simulation onboard antenna
  •     Dimensioning of the antenna matching
  •     Installation and commissioning of the receiver (MDS, limit sensitivity etc.)
  •     BER tests of the transmitter-receiver link using a PC
  •     Programming of a user interface
  •     Test of different modulation methods ASK and FSK under real EMI scenarios
  •     Board design and manufacturing
