Step 4: Application

You have found several interesting international internship positions and you now wish to apply.

Application period

The application period mainly depends on the country and company you wish to apply to. Please have a close look to the job postings if available.

For countries in Europe you should apply three to six months before your planned starting date. For countries outside Europe the period is six to nine months in advance. This is due to the visa regulations.

Preparation of the application documents

Applications are usually submitted in English worldwide. There are some specific features to pay attention to when submitting an application in English.

The following sample applications are intended as a guide to creating an application folder. However, they are only a source of reference. In order to be successful, you must take the time for each application and adjust it as much as possible to the position in question.

Once you have compiled an application folder with cover letter, CV and mark sheet, you are welcome to arrange a personal appointment to carry out an application folder check. The Career Service will provide you with feedback and tips on improving your documents.

The Career Service and the International Office also offer opportunities for you to attend job application trainings in German or English. You will find the current events in the event calendar or on moodle.

Job interview

Now you have written a few applications and have been successful! You have received invitations to job interviews. These often take place abroad via a telephone interview and usually in English. How can you prepare for this? We will be happy to help you! Simply make an appointment to simulate a job interview in German or English.
