Twinkling lights, excited murmurs, proud companions: an unforgettable evening began in a festive atmosphere at the Congress Centre Ingolstadt. The THI hosted the Academic Celebration. Around 1,400 guests - a record - experienced an evening full of emotion.
After a warm welcome by THI President Professor Walter Schober, who honoured the outstanding achievements of the graduates, the focus was on the ceremonial farewell and the presentation of special awards. ‘A far-reaching transformation process is needed to secure our prosperity. This requires a willingness to perform and the ability to innovate. This is what we have trained you for. Make the most of your opportunities - we need you,’ emphasised Schober in his speech, which he delivered partly in English due to the increasing proportion of international students.
Several award winners were honoured for their excellent academic achievements: Bachelor's graduate Eva Burger and Master's graduate Jonas Martin Rapp were awarded the best degree. Dmitrii Guzun received the prize from the city of Ingolstadt for the best thesis in the field of digitalisation, while Gomaa Engy received the award from the German Academic Exchange Service. The team prize for a remarkable study project went to an international team of five THI students and five of their fellow students from San José State University in the USA. Tobias Reissig was honoured with the Audi Environmental Foundation Award for his achievements in the field of sustainability. Michael Schmid, a research assistant at the Institute for Innovative Mobility, received a prize for his pioneering doctoral thesis.
Afterwards, two spectacular show acts thrilled the audience: juggling world champion Moritz Rosner and the acrobats of the Flyguys provided the best entertainment. Students Paula Esswein, a recent Bachelor's graduate in Artificial Intelligence, and Florian Klein, who led the audience through the programme with charm and humour, took over the moderation.
The highlight was once again the throwing of the hats on stage, which the professors celebrated on stage together with the more than 430 graduates from the faculties in attendance. The Business School shone with a very special graduate – Lukas Glossner, who won the bronze medal in basketball at the Paralympics in Paris.
