Why did you decide to study GFTM?

I chose to study Global Foresight and Technology Management (GFTM) because it aligned perfectly with my interests. I wanted to work at the intersection of technology and management, acting as a bridge between the two fields. My passion for emerging technologies and future trends made this interdisciplinary and unique program an ideal choice. The hands-on approach, project-based learning, and the fact that it was a fully English-taught Master’s program further reinforced my decision.

What was the most important lesson you learned during your studies?

One of the most valuable lessons I learned during my studies was the importance of intercultural collaboration and networking, particularly in the field of foresight. Understanding diverse perspectives has proven to be essential in both professional and personal growth.

When you look back on your studies: What do you still benefit from most today?

The novelty of my study program and the project-based knowledge I gained still benefit me today.

Since graduating, what phases of your profession have you completed?

Since graduating, I have been completing an 18-month traineeship in innovation, which serves as my entry-level phase. This program has allowed me to rotate through various departments, including the business innovation lab on management and on project level, the simulation software department, as well as the portfolio department in China. I am now back as a coach in an innovation team.

How would you describe your typical workday?

There is no typical workday in innovation, especially within a traineeship. Each day varies depending on the tasks at hand and the department you are in, making the job dynamic and ever-changing.

What makes your industry so exciting for you?

I work in robotics and automation, a field that excites me due to its profound impact on the future. Robotics is evolving from cutting-edge technology into a commodity, shaping industries and society in unprecedented ways.

What do you particularly like about your job?

What I enjoy most about my job is the diversity—both in tasks and team members—as well as the opportunity to continuously learn something new.

How has completing your studies contributed to the realization of your career goals?

Completing my Master’s degree was instrumental in securing my trainee position. It set me apart from other candidates and provided me with a strong foundation to launch my career.

What criteria did you use to decide on a particular career path/step?

I chose this path because it offered a holistic view of the industry and the opportunity to work abroad, which aligns with my long-term aspirations.

What is your favourite future, professional or personal?

My ideal future is one where technology is leveraged for the common good, improving both society and the world at large. Given the volatility of our times, I believe in using the technology and innovations at our disposal to create meaningful, positive change.
