Technical Development in Mechanical Engineering

Technical Development in Mechanical Engineering

The Master’s programme in Technical Development in Mechanical Engineering at THI offers you a highly challenging course of study closely linked to the latest developments in applied research.

In the first semester, you will begin with compulsory modules covering seven specialist disciplines: composite materials, CAE, mechatronics, multi-body systems, structural strength and fracture mechanics. You will also gain an understanding of scientific research methods.

In the second semester, you will focus on lightweight construction as well as corrosion and surface engineering. In addition, you can refine your personal profile through compulsory-elective modules (Adaptive Systems, Acoustics and Gearboxes). You even have the option of spending a semester abroad.
In the third semester, you will focus on writing your Master’s thesis. Upon completion of your degree, you will be well prepared for complex specialist and managerial roles in mechanical engineering. A PhD is also an option.

Job perspective

Interesting Facts

  1. Important information for Master’s applicants from India

With immediate effect, applicants from India holding bachelor’s degrees in the fields of Engineering, Commerce / Accounting / Finance / Economics, or Business / Management must, in addition to the VDP from uni-assist, provide evidence of having taken the Digital Master Test (dMAT) aps-india.de/dmat/ in order to obtain an APS certificate or a visa. The test costs €150. Please check whether this applies to you based on your Bachelor’s degree. THI does not answer any questions regarding the test procedure or its impact on an offer of admission from our university!

  2. Dual study programme

A combined model (degree programme & vocational training) OR a degree programme with in-depth practical experience (degree programme and intensive practical placements) are available. For the dual study programme, you must apply both to the company and to the university (please note: be sure to check the company’s application deadlines!).

  3. Funding for Studies

At THI, students have access to a wide range of support options in the form of scholarships. We recommend that students living on their own budget for at least 700–900 EUR per month for personal expenses (accommodation, health insurance, food, books, tuition fees).

  4. International citizenship from outside the EU/EEC

THI charges tuition fees of 1,200 euros per semester (Master’s programmes). We are committed to providing our students with the best possible conditions to develop their skills and personalities for the working world of the future. At our International Welcome Centre, you will find excellent services and support. Our degree programmes offer the best possible study conditions.

  5. Studying abroad whilst at university

During your studies, you will have the opportunity to gain international experience. THI has an international network comprising more than 150 partner universities as well as numerous international companies worldwide. Our International Office serves as a central point of contact for all students.
