To what extent can a robot make decisions autonomously?
Robots learn through programming, imitation and, in particular, through the use of artificial intelligence. The Bachelor’s degree in Robotics at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences (THI) therefore equips you with skills in mechatronics and computer science:
In the first stage of the programme, you will learn the fundamentals of programming and engineering mathematics, as well as the basics of electrical engineering, engineering mechanics, engineering informatics, sensor technology and digital signal processing.
The second stage of the programme takes you further into the subject matter. The curriculum here includes, amongst other things: the fundamentals of artificial intelligence, control engineering, actuator technology, image processing and machine learning, modelling and simulation, industrial robots, mobile robots and human-robot collaboration.
Through a practical semester, you’ll also establish early contacts with companies, as well as through an industry-oriented Bachelor’s thesis, which rounds off your degree.
Once you have successfully completed your degree, as a robotics engineer you will have career opportunities in numerous sectors: in mechanical and automotive engineering, in the aerospace industry, in the microelectronics and electrical industries, in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as with manufacturers of control systems and in service robotics for social applications and care. The job prospects and earning potential are very good.
What can I do later with a robotics degree programme?
Robotics engineers are employed in companies in various sectors: these include mechanical and vehicle engineering, the aerospace industry, the microelectronics and electrical industries. They are also needed in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries and by manufacturers of control systems. The labour market opportunities and earning potential for our graduates are very good. An internship semester and an industry-related bachelor's thesis establish contacts with companies at an early stage.
