Application for a place on a Bachelor’s degree programme

For degree programmes without an aptitude assessment procedure, applicants need only upload proof of university entrance qualification (HZB) to the application portal.

For degree programmes with an aptitude assessment procedure, in addition to the HZB, the documents required for the aptitude assessment procedure must be submitted online.

Further documents are required for enrolment. You must submit these documents (CV, ID and, where applicable, language certificates) online. You can find information on this and what happens next once the application process is complete on our Admissions and Enrolment page.

If you have not yet received your university entrance qualification and are applying for the winter semester, you may be granted an extension to submit your university entrance qualification beyond the end of the application period.

To do this, please follow these steps: Apply as normal within the application period via the THI application portal and indicate there that you have not yet received your certificate. You will then automatically be granted an extension until 27 July.

Please note: it is still essential that you submit your online application by the end of the application period in order to take part in the admissions process!

Unfortunately, for applications for the summer semester, it is not possible to submit documents after the application period has ended.

The application process is conducted entirely online; you do not need to send anything by post.

Simply scan or take clear photographs of the original documents required in the upload section and upload them to the THI application portal.

It is not necessary to send documents by post.

However, the Technical University of Ingolstadt reserves the right to request officially certified copies of the above-mentioned documents in addition.

The NC (numerus clausus) for the coming semester is not fixed in advance. It is determined based on the number of applicants in a given intake and their average marks.

The end of the application period is a cut-off date; unfortunately, it is not possible to submit applications after this date.

Any remaining places will be allocated via Hochschulstart as part of the Coordinated Waitlist Process. However, to be eligible to take part in the Coordinated Waitlist Process, you must not have been admitted during the previous coordination phase.

It is only possible to complete individual modules of a degree programme as part of a modular study programme within the part-time Bachelor’s degree programmes offered by the Campus for Continuing Education (TCW). You can find further information on modular study programmes here.

Your university entrance qualification (certificate) must, as a general rule, clearly state that you are eligible to study in Bavaria.

The pre-study placement is an internship that must generally be completed before the start of the degree programme and/or during the lecture-free periods, no later than the start of the fourth semester, and which corresponds in content to the future degree programme. The pre-study placement can be undertaken at a company of the student’s choice.

Provisional admissions are granted to individuals who are undertaking the Federal Voluntary Service and, for this reason, have been unable to take up their place at university.

The above-mentioned group of applicants can select ‘provisional admission’ in the questionnaire section of the online application and then upload their admission letters from a maximum of two previous semesters for their chosen degree programme, along with a final certificate confirming the duration of their service. Provided all documents have been received in the upload section in the correct format and by the deadline, the place on the course is guaranteed.

Applicants who have already studied the same degree programme at another higher education institution and have not been officially withdrawn from their studies may apply for a higher semester. Due to the individual recognition of previously acquired qualifications, admission to the programme is possible from the end of February or the beginning of September at the earliest. Unfortunately, it is not possible to assess applications in advance.

As part of the application process for a higher semester, applicants must submit an application for the recognition of prior learning. You can find the form here.

Visiting students may be admitted if they wish to further their studies in specific subject areas and attend individual modules for this purpose. Unfortunately, it is not possible to sit examinations as part of a visiting student programme.

The German-taught Bachelor’s degree programme in Architecture includes an aptitude test. The exact procedure for this is set out in the regulations governing the aptitude test (see also the form)

For the English-taught Bachelor’s degree programme inArchitecture, both the aptitude assessment procedure (for all applicants) and, in addition, the international orientation and selection procedure (for applicants from abroad) apply (see the form).

Unless you hold a German-language university entrance qualification, proof of English language proficiency at B2 level is required for all English-taught Bachelor’s degree programmes.

Under the ‘General Statutes’ section of the Legal Department’s website, you will find the document ‘Recognised B2 English Tests’, which lists all tests recognised as equivalent.

Unless you hold a German-language university entrance qualification, proof of German language proficiency is required for the following Bachelor’s degree programmes:

2. Sustainable Civil Engineering

   For these Bachelor’s degree programmes, proof of German language proficiency at Level A2 must be provided by the end of the second academic semester at the latest, and proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language at Level B2 must be provided by the end of the fifth academic semester at the latest.

3. Engineering and Management

   For this Bachelor’s degree programme, proof of German language proficiency at Level A2 must be provided by the end of the fourth academic semester at the latest.
