Bachelor’s degree applications from abroad

• All applicants who have obtained their university entrance qualification in Germany or their Abitur certificate at a school governed by the German Abitur examination regulations.
• Applicants who have completed a Studienkolleg in Germany and whose certificate shows an overall average mark (the average mark of foreign educational qualifications and the average mark of the assessment examination).
• Graduates of the European Schools in Germany (International Baccalaureate (IB)): These applicants have the option of submitting their certificates directly to the Certificate Recognition Office of the Free State of Bavaria within the first year following graduation. These applicants must then submit the ‘Certificate confirming the calculation of the German average mark for the ZVS’ to our university.
• One year after graduation, these applicants must also have their certificates verified by uni assist.
• Applicants with an AbiBac: These applicants must submit the ‘Certificate of Acquisition of the General University Entrance Qualification’ to Ingolstadt University of Technology together with their certificate.
• Graduates of German schools in Greece: Please submit the Apolitirio together with your certificate of the supplementary examination.

We generally recommend applying as early as possible. The application process is not linked to the application periods at Ingolstadt University of Technology. However, please ensure that you have the VPD in your possession by the end of our university’s application period at the latest.

As a rule, uni-assist requires 4 to 6 weeks from receipt of the complete application (including payment) to issue the VPD. uni-assist also provides up-to-date information on current processing times (by region of origin) on its page regarding deadlines and processing times.

You can find information on the required application documents directly on the uni-assist website. There you will also find information on the certification and, where necessary, translation of the documents to be submitted.

Language proficiency certificates do NOT need to be sent to uni-assist.

Yes, please note the regulations for applicants from the People’s Republic of China, India or Vietnam.

Applicants from the People’s Republic of China, India and Vietnam must have their certificates and academic transcripts checked and recognised by the Academic Assessment Centre (APS) in their home country before applying. You must submit the original APS certificate to uni-assist e.V. Certified copies will not be accepted. Without the original APS certificate or APS attestation, your application cannot be assessed! Please make a copy or scan for your own records before submitting it.

When applying for the preliminary assessment documentation, you must transfer a fee to uni-assist e.V. (uni-assist fee schedule). The assessment fee for certificates is currently 75 euros. Each additional application to another higher education institution currently costs 30 euros. The terms and conditions of uni-assist e.V. apply.

Please note that your application cannot be processed without this payment (uni-assist payment options). You are also welcome to enclose a copy of your bank statement or a proof of payment with your documents.

Please search for our university on uni-assist without entering the degree programme you are interested in. You will then have two options: ‘Bachelor’s – all subjects’ or ‘Master’s – all subjects’

You simply need to select the degree programme you are interested in when completing the online application on the Ingolstadt University of Technology portal.

If the academic qualifications assessed by uni-assist e.V. do not fully meet the requirements, recognition is conditional upon sitting an additional examination. For international students, these additional examinations are conducted by the Studienkolleg at the Universities of Applied Sciences of the Free State of Bavaria in Coburg as an assessment examination (FSP). The examinations can be taken at a Studienkolleg anywhere in Germany.

The Studienkolleg usually lasts one year; upon completion, graduates receive a document enabling them to apply for a degree programme.

Two conditions need to be fulfilled to be able to reuse the VPD:

1. the VPD was issued after choosing a "Bachelor-check" for Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt
2. the VPD is no older than three years

Admission of admission limited bachelor courses will be carried our by with the dialogue-oriented service procedure (in German: dialogorientiertes Serviceverfahren, short: DoSV) of "Hochschulstart".

The procedure is called dialogue-oriented, because applicants actively take part the admission procedure after they submitted their application(s). Applicants for example have to accept an admission offer, or put study courses in an order of importance.

Applicants can apply at various universities in Germany, but all their data will be merged at Hochschulstart. This enables to bring together the wishes of applicants and selection procedures of the universities. Vacant places can be passed on to the next applicant immediately.

Depending on the time in the procedure you can find the necessary information either in the PRIMUSS-portal of the THI or in the portal of Hochschulstart.

After the beginning of coordination phase offers of admission will be presented to applicants. When an offer of admission is transformed to actual admission, applicants will receive a notifications of admission through theapplication portal ot the THI within a few working days. The notification of admission will contain information how the enrolment procedure is processed.

Notices of refusal and notices of exclusion will be published end august/february thorugh Hochschulstart.

The minimum grade for admission is not fixed before the admission process (coordination phase) took part. You can have a look on the grades which where necessary for admission in the last years on our page regarding admission and enrollment.

When you missed the application period you can not take part the regular admission process (coordination phase).

In case there are still vacancies at the end of the coordination phase and you did not get admission during the coordination phase you can sign up for the coordinated moving-up procedure at Hochschulstart.

For your application at the THI and at Hochschulstart you do not have to submit certified copies of your documents.

It is absolutely sufficient to scan your documents (for example with a scan-app) and upload them in the application portal of the THI.

In case of admission you have to send certified hardcopies of all the documents named in the notice of admission to the THI to process enrollment. All necessary information will be available on your notice of admission.

But: The application process for getting the VPD from uni-assist requires sending certified documents.

• Applicants from abroad who apply for a german-taught course have to submit proof of sufficient German skills, level B2.

  Proof of the passed exam has to be submitted until enrollment at the latest. 

  Proof of language knowledge has to be uploaded when applying online at the THI, you do NOT have to sent it to uni-assist.

• Furthermore, proof of German language proficiency is required during the course of study for the following bachelor's degree programs if you do not have a German university entrance qualification,:
   

1. Architecture

2. Sustainable Civil Engineering

   For these bachelor's degree programs, proof of German language proficiency at level A2 must be provided by the end of the second semester at the latest, and proof of sufficient German language proficiency at level B2 must be provided by the end of the fifth semester at the latest.

3. Engineering and Management 

• For this bachelor's degree programs, proof of German language proficiency at level A2 must be provided by the end of the firth semester at the latest.

• Here you will find a list of all recognized German tests at level B2 under “Proof of language skills.”

If you do not have a German university entrance qualification, proof of English language proficiency at level B2 is required for the all english taught bachelor's degree programs.

In the General Statutes section of the Legal Department you will find the document “Anerkannte Englisch Tests B2,” which lists all tests recognized as equivalent.

Yes, there is an aptitude test in the German-language bachelor's programme Architektur an in the Egnlish-language programme Architecture.
