Authorisation
Depending on the degree programme, applicants can expect different admission dates.
Bachelor courses admission-limited (admission-process with Hochschulstart)
A few days after transformation of an offer of admission to actual admission (in the portal of Hochschulstart), applicants will receive the letter, or notification of admission in the PRIMUSS-application portal of the THI.
Letters of refusal and rejection will be published from Hochschulstart until end of August (for winter terms) or February (for summer terms).
Bachelor courses not admission-limited (admission-procedure without Hochschulstart)
Notifications of acceptance and rejection can be expected in early to mid-February (for the summer term) and in early to mid-August (for the winter term).
Bachelor courses higher semester
Because of the transfer and classification procedures letters of admission and rejection for applicants for the higher semester can be expected mid of September (for winter term) or mid to end of February (for summer term).
Master courses
Notifications of acceptance and rejection can be expected in early to mid-February (for the summer semester) and in early to mid-August (for the winter semester).
For degree programmes with an aptitude assessment process, an additional one to two weeks may sometimes be required, as the aptitude assessment process must still be carried out after the application period has ended.

The NC (numerus clausus) / thresholds from previous admission rounds
A numerus clausus (NC) arises whenever there are more valid applications than places available for a degree programme with restricted admission. In such cases, a ranking list of all applicants is drawn up based on their average marks; the applicant in first place is offered a place first, followed by the applicant in second place, and so on. The average mark of the last applicant to receive admission or an offer of admission (in the case of procedures using ‘Hochschulstart’) is the numerus clausus for that procedure.
The NC can therefore vary from one admissions process to another, depending on the number of applicants and their average marks; for this reason, the cut-off marks from previous semesters can only serve as a rough guide.

For certain degree programmes, the enrolment procedures may vary slightly for procedural reasons; however, the procedure described in the letter of offer is always the decisive factor.
