Sustainable Civil Engineering

Sustainable Civil Engineering

The Bachelor’s degree programme in Sustainable Civil Engineering prepares you for roles of responsibility in civil engineering. You will learn how key infrastructure – such as buildings, bridges, roads, and energy and water systems – is planned, built and maintained without placing an unnecessary burden on the climate and resources. You will work with sustainable building materials, energy-efficient construction methods, digital planning tools such as BIM, and innovative construction techniques that enable a smaller ecological footprint.
In the first few semesters, you will study in English and can simultaneously develop your German language skills to at least B2 level to enhance your career prospects. From the fifth semester onwards, teaching is predominantly in German. Practical projects, small groups and a compulsory internship give you early insight into real-world construction projects and encourage interdisciplinary work.

As the course progresses, you will explore topics such as circular construction, sustainable transport infrastructure and alternative construction methods in greater depth. Elective modules open up further specialisations.

Job pespectives

With your thirst for knowledge and our expertise, we can develop new ideas and make a difference to climate change. You’ll begin this English-taught degree programme alongside international fellow students who will share their own experiences. Make the most of this opportunity for intercultural exchange and be sure to plan a semester abroad! Later in your career, you’ll have many opportunities both regionally and internationally with globally active development companies, construction firms or even the public
With a degree in civil engineering taught in English, supplemented by specialisation in sustainable and energy-efficient project and construction management, the doors are open to regional and, above all, international companies in project planning and management, or as a site manager or engineer in a design office.
Interested? Then the Sustainable Civil Engineering degree programme at THI in Neuburg an der Donau is exactly the right choice for you, your education and your future career.

The programme starts in the summer semester.

Registration for the programme is possible via online application. Requirements include a valid university entrance qualification ("Hochschulzugangsberechtigung"). This is a secondary school certificate that entitles you to study at a German university. For applicants who obtained their higher secondary school certificate outside of Germany, uni-assist has to verify their eligibility to study in Germany and to convert school grades to the German grade system. Applicants will have to submit all required documents online to uni-assist prior to their application at THI. The process takes four to six weeks (VPD).

Documents can be uploaded directly in the Primuss applicant portal of the THI.
