It shapes the way we live, work and interact with one another. That is why the world today needs more than just spectacular buildings and beautiful façades. It needs architecture that takes responsibility – and architects who are keen to rethink buildings.
On the Bachelor’s degree programme in Architecture at THI, you’ll learn to design buildings, spaces and places that do more than just look good. That are aesthetically pleasing, sustainable and fit for the future. You’ll develop creative designs, work with innovative materials and explore sustainable solutions for the built environment.
Right from the start, you’ll combine design and construction with a sense of responsibility towards people, society and the environment. In project-based workshops, you’ll develop your own ideas, work as part of a team and learn how a vision becomes a built reality.
Because the future needs more than just beautiful buildings. It needs people who think differently. It needs you!
The bilingual program begins in English and gradually integrates German, preparing you for both German and international practice.

In the Architecture (B. Eng., English and German-language) programme, it is possible to start your studies only in summer semester. In 2026 the programme also starts in winter semester.
As the programme is not subject to admission restrictions, applications must be submitted exclusively via the PRIMUSS application portal THI. Registration with DOSV/hochschulstart is therefore not necessary.

Aptitude test
Would you like to study architecture? In addition to your university entrance qualification (VDP via Uni-assist (please give at least 7-8 weeks processing time), you will also need to demonstrate your creative aptitude. To do this, you will go through a two-stage process:
- Online application: A digital application portfolio (maximum 10 pages) containing
- three independently produced, separate work samples and
- a declaration that the submitted work samples were created independently.
- We will review and evaluate your portfolio. If you pass, you will be admitted to the programme. There is no oral exam.
There is no pre-study internship.
German language requirements
You don't speak German yet? This programme offers the option to take all introductory module courses in English, and learn German along the way. By the time you reach the higher semesters, you’ll be well-prepared to succeed in a predominantly German-speaking study and work environment. During the first four semesters, you'll be obliged to learn German up to level B2. If you're starting your studies with a level of A2 (A1 should be completed by the start of your studies in Neuburg) to B1, you're going to have more free time during your first semesters.
Level B2 is not optional, but has to be proven as the final semesters will be taught primarily in German.

What career prospects will I have after completing my degree?
Graduates can pursue careers in, amongst other things, architecture and planning firms, in the field of sustainable construction, in urban and regional planning, in project management or in public institutions. The Bachelor’s degree programme also lays the foundation for further Master’s degree programmes.
Is the architecture degree programme at THI practice-oriented?
Project work and design studios form an important part of the degree programme. You will work on real-world assignments and develop your own solutions to current architectural and societal challenges.
What is the difference compared to a traditional architecture degree?
Sustainability takes centre stage for us - combined with digital tools and modern topics such as social sustainability and green building.
Is there a connection to the German-language degree programme ‘Architektur’?
Starting in the fifth semester, German-speaking and international students enrolled in the two Bachelor's programmes in architecture study together in the German-language programme Architektur! In the higher semesters, modules are mainly taught in German, but some are also taught in English. English-language courses prepare students for a global working environment, while German-language content places greater emphasis on local industry relevance. This model increases the university's appeal to a diverse student body.
Why study architecture with a focus on sustainability?
The construction and property sector faces major challenges: climate change, resource scarcity and the transformation of existing buildings call for new approaches. A degree in architecture with a focus on sustainability equips students with the skills to design buildings and cities that are fit for the future, resource-efficient and socially responsible.
Can I choose my own areas of specialisation whilst I’m still studying?
Yes. From the 5th semester onwards, you can choose individual specialisations. At present, the specialisations on offer are Sociology and Sustainable Construction.

The degree programme is structured around projects. You will work on many tasks in teams and regularly present your designs in so-called reviews or presentations. This enables you to develop not only specialist knowledge, but also communication and teamwork skills.
