Experts for the mobility of the future

This part-time Bachelor's degree programme is designed for experienced prospective students with work experience in vehicle/mechanical engineering or related professional fields. Students acquire engineering tools that enable them to analyse and independently solve complex tasks using suitable methods. On the basis of mathematical and physical knowledge, they acquire methodological skills for the development and production of technical components or entire vehicle systems. Now with specialisation in modern drives and autonomous vehicle functions as well as vehicle testing technology!

The application period for the winter semester begins on 2 May each year.

University entrance qualification acquired abroad

If the higher education entrance qualification was obtained abroad, a preliminary examination of the higher education entrance qualification by uni-assist is required.

Please note that it may take 4 to 6 weeks for uni-assist to process your application.

Recognition of competences

The B. Eng. Automotive Engineering degree programme, there is a competence-oriented recognition of knowledge and skills acquired both professionally and outside of higher education, as well as prior academic achievements. This ensures that students do not have to study content in which they have already acquired equivalent competences.

The recognition of previously acquired competences can shorten the duration of studies by up to four to seven semesters. Make a non-binding enquiry to contact the IAW team at Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences and find out more about credit transfer.

Job profiles

After graduating, graduates can quickly familiarise themselves with the diverse areas of vehicle technology - e.g. development, testing, quality assurance, technical monitoring - and take on qualified specialist and management tasks in business and administration.

This degree programme is aimed in particular at prospective students with professional experience in mechanical engineering/vehicle construction or related fields AND ideally a further training qualification as a state-certified technician*/master craftsman* (HWK, IHK)/technical business administrator/vehicle expert

Can I also study this degree programme without a high school diploma?

Yes, the requirements for university admission can be found under "Admission and application".

Are there preparatory courses for first-year students without a high school diploma?

A preliminary course in mathematics/physics takes place in the summer semester before the start of the degree programme, see Structure > Preparation for studies.

Will my further training as a master craftsman/state-certified technician count towards my study period?

The professional training courses that can be credited towards the period of study are listed under "Structure > Shortening the period of study".

Is this degree programme admission restricted?

No.

How large are the study groups?

Usually up to a maximum of 30 students.

How much time do the face-to-face courses take?

ach module (subject) comprises 9*0.5 days (36 hours) of attendance. With four modules per semester, the attendance time is 18 days. In addition, there are examinations at THI and (voluntary) tutorials on weekday evenings.

How much time do I have to invest outside the classroom?

Each module (subject) earns you 5 ECTS credit points. One ECTS credit point corresponds to an average workload of 25 hours. The time required per module is therefore approx. 125 hours. Of this, 36 hours are spent on attendance, the rest on preparation and follow-up work, exercises, exam preparation, etc.
