Do you want to make a sustainable difference, plan, calculate and build? Then the Sustainable Civil Engineering degree programme is the right choice for you. Here you will learn how to design bridges, houses, halls, roads and tunnels, position cranes and set up and manage construction sites using new, sustainable methods. New sustainable methods - why? Because we in the construction sector make an enormous contribution to CO2 emissions - that's why we have to rethink. With sustainable and alternative building materials, effective resource management, energy-efficient building design, digital methods and new structural methods, there is enormous potential to reduce our ecological footprint. With your curiosity and our expertise, we can develop new things and have an impact on climate change. Take the chance!
Sustainable Civil Engineering (in German) (B. Eng.)
Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng.)
7 Semester
Summer & Winter
Contents
In this degree programme, everything is designed for sustainable construction. This means studying civil engineering with the necessary sustainable aspects. The necessary skills are taught within the framework of practice-oriented teaching.
In the first part of your studies, you will complete the classic construction-specific modules such as Structural Analysis and Construction together with the students of the Bachelor Industrial Engineering - Construction. In this way, you will learn to exchange ideas with other construction professions in small groups at an early stage and to develop interdisciplinary ideas. In the module Sustainability in Construction, you will be made aware of potentials and development opportunities in the construction industry, so that the mindset for sustainable construction will be easy for you in the future.
In the second stage of your studies, you will take modules that specifically relate to the sustainability factor in construction, such as Sustainable Construction Planning and Construction Operations, Sustainable Transport Technology, etc. You will also be introduced to the potential of sustainable construction. For example, the module Timber Construction/Timber Building Technology not only deals with the load-bearing capacity of wood, but also with reforestation in order to preserve the raw material.
After your internship, you will have gained so much insight into professional life that modules such as Alternative Construction Methods, Digital Building Management, etc. will be easy for you and you can pursue your own interests through elective modules. You round off your studies with a Bachelor's thesis and receive a Bachelor of Engineering degree.

Quick Info
The programme starts in the winter semester (October) as well as the summer semester (March)..
Registration for the programme is possible from Nov. 15 to Jan. 15 and May 2 to July 15, via online application. This Bachelor's programme is offered at the THI without admission restrictions/NC, so registration with DOSV/hochschulstart is not necessary. This applies to the GERMAN language course only, the Englisch language SCE (Sustainable Cili Engineering) may vary! Documents can be uploaded directly in the Primuss applicant portal of the THI.
All Infos on Bachelor application.
With a degree in civil engineering and the addition of sustainable and energy-efficient project/construction management, the doors are open to regional and international companies in project planning and management, as a construction manager or engineer in a planning office.
