Double Degree with the CSUN Northridge, Ca. possible

Contents

The degree programme is primarily aimed at technically and internationally interested Bachelor graduates from an economic or MINT discipline. In addition to teaching practical best practices, the THI places emphasis on deepening the theoretical scientific foundations that enable students to pursue a doctorate or work in the scientific field. Leadership and management techniques are acquired in theoretical in-depth subjects, seminars, project and master's theses with a strong practical orientation and cooperation with regional companies.

30% of the lectures are held in English and take place mainly from Monday to Wednesday.

A double degree or certificate programme is possible with the partner university California State University: www.csun.edu.

The programme is offered as a full-time course of study. The standard period of study is three semesters. The programme includes three theoretical semesters of study, with the third semester serving to prepare the Master's thesis.

Dual studies or studies with in-depth practical

The dual studies programme enables a combination of practical training elements in a company with the theoretical education provided by the university. There is a choice of either the joint model (academic study + vocational training) or the degree course with vocational experience (academic study + intense practical phases). There is an obvious advantage to students here: practically oriented academic study generally enables a particularly smooth transition from university to the world of work. What is more, the student usually receives financial remuneration from the company concerned.

In the joint model, students may start working at the company several months before the start of the first semester, depending on the company concerned. At the start of the course there is an alternation between theory (during the semester) and practical experience (between semesters and during the practical semesters). In order to embark on a dual studies programme, students have to apply to both a company and to THI (be sure to take note of company application deadlines!).

More info on our dual studies-pages, or check dual cooperation partner companies. Even if no partner company is currently active in this degree programme, you are welcome to contact us.

Financial assistance

Please note that financial aid programmes are mostly not open to foreign students. For scholarships for students from abroad you may have a look here:

https://www.daad.de/deutschland/stipendium/datenbank/en/12359-finding-scholarships/
Public funding (BAföG) is only available to Germans and to EU citizens if they have spent a considerable part of their education in Germany. The university awards a scholarship called Deutschlandstipendium once a year which cannot fully cover living expenses. Additionally we have limited funds and support some international students for a maximum of one semester. Please do not actively approach the International Office on scholarships, once a year a call for application automatically reaches all international students.

Third party scholarship:

  • If you are an applicant from abroad, you may qualify for a scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD): www.daad.de
  • If you are a German students we recommend to research for suitable scholarships on www.mystipendium.de
  • Please note that we cannot offer any guidance or support concerning scholarship applications.

We recommend that single students budget at least 900 EUR per month to meet personal expenses (accommodation, health insurance, stay, books, semester contribution)

International

To prepare for your semester abroad or to learn another foreign language alongside your studies, you can take language courses at THI's own Language Center (Sprachenzentrum). The language courses are taught only by native speakers and offered at different levels. All courses are free of charge for our students. For more information please see https://www.thi.de/studium/sprachenzentrum.

THI does not run any student housing – neither on-campus nor off-campus – and therefore cannot provide you with accommodation. Here you can find more information on finding accommodation: Accomodation in Ingolstadt. Please keep in mind that you'll need 700-900 € per month for accomodation and your personal expenses.

Our International Office is established especially for the international academic programs. The International Office provides an all-round service to help you with all necessary prearrangements for the organization of your study and everyday life in Ingolstadt.

Testimonials

Isabelle Knöll, Master student

Why did you decide to study for a Master's degree in digital procurement at THI?

It was particularly important for me to specialise in a future-relevant area in the Master's programme and to maintain the combination of technology and business. In addition, internationality and a high level of practical orientation were important criteria for me. This Master's programme at the THI offers exactly these characteristics and also focuses on sustainability and digitalisation.

What was your experience like?

The lectures are specifically geared towards the disciplines of modern, strategic procurement and reflect the diverse areas of responsibility very well. The mostly small group sizes offer a lot of room for professional discussions and personal exchange. I also particularly like the fact that most lectures include case studies in teamwork, presentations from industry or project work in cooperation with industry partners in addition to theory. So far, I have been particularly enthusiastic about the negotiation training, the subject Digital Procurement Engineering and the international project with partner universities from South Africa, the USA and Thailand.

What would you recommend to interested students?

You can get an authentic impression of this Master's programme by participating in the Master Talk events at THI, which are conducted by the programme director and students. These offer insights into the personal experiences of the students and at the same time the opportunity to answer individual questions.

My personal tip: Choose a Master's programme according to what you enjoy most.

Christopher Lang, Master student

Why did you choose this Master's programme?

After completing my Bachelor's degree in engineering and management, it was important for me to complete a Master's degree programme that specializes in a future-oriented area and at the same time retains the technical aspect. Due to the constantly increasing importance of procurement in a company as well as the innovative modules, this study programme offered me exactly these prerequisites.

How are your experiences?

My expectations of the study programme were completely fulfilled. The study programme is not only strongly practice-oriented, but also serves the personal development. In addition to the core tasks of modern, strategic procurement, you also gain a lot of knowledge in the area of negotiation techniques and strengthen your own social skills. You benefit from the many years of experience of the lecturers in their respective fields. In addition to the lectures, the practical implementation of what has been learned is also strongly encouraged. For example, students work on numerous projects with companies from different industries.

What would you recommend to interested students?

In my opinion, an essential basis for this Master's programme is that you enjoy working together in teams and at the same time combine an interest in procurement and innovative technologies. Prerequisites are therefore an enthusiasm for solution-oriented thinking, as well as an open and approachable nature towards fellow human beings. In addition, professional strengths in the field of engineering as well as a good command of English are advantageous.
