In accordance with Article 13(3), first sentence, point 6 of the Bavarian Higher Education Innovation Act (BayHIG), Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) charges tuition fees of €800 per semester for Bachelor’s students and €1,200 for Master’s students who are nationals of countries outside the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA) *. All students continue to pay the Student Services contribution each semester.

*These fees are used to fund the services provided by the Welcome Centre (IWC). In addition, the faculties at THI receive a portion of these funds to support international students.

Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt provides detailed information on funding opportunities and scholarships (ENG) for its students. In addition, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) (ENG) offers various scholarship and funding programmes for those wishing to study in Germany.

All international students who have obtained their university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur) or an undergraduate degree (e.g. Bachelor’s) within the German education system are exempt from paying tuition fees. This does not include those who have merely attended a Studienkolleg.

*Further information for Bachelor’s applicants: Admission to Bachelor’s study courses with limited admission is handled via the dialogue-based service procedure (DoSV) provided by ‘Hochschulstart’.

The process is described as ‘dialogue-based’ because applicants play an active role in the admission procedure after submitting their application(s). For example, applicants must accept an offer of admission or rank study courses in order of preference.

Applicants can apply to various universities in Germany, but their details are collated by ‘Hochschulstart’. This makes it possible to match applicants’ preferences with the universities’ selection procedures. Any vacant places can be immediately allocated to the next applicant.

No, THI does not offer student flats or rooms. Please make arrangements for accommodation well in advance of the Start of studies.

According to our students, the cost of living in Ingolstadt/Neuburg is approximately as follows:

Ingolstadt and Neuburg are very safe towns in Germany, where you can feel safe walking through the streets. Both towns offer excellent access to green spaces, making them ideal destinations for outdoor activities.
