The “Sauguad” research project at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt is providing new insights into the sustainable marketing of pork in Bavaria. Led by Prof. Dr. Thomas Vogler and Tanja Klett, the research project is entering its second half.

The study results so far show that while retail consumption is declining, demand in the catering industry remains stable. Regionality and animal welfare are gaining in importance, but price pressure in the retail sector remains a challenge.

The project was initiated by Ferkelerzeugerring Landshut e.V. and is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Forestry, and Tourism. A new marketing strategy, social media campaigns, and collaborations with the catering and retail sectors are intended to further strengthen “Sauguad.”
