Transfer also means exchange beyond the university

Our understanding of transfer

Transfer is a high priority at the THI. In the triad of research, teaching and transfer, this topic is firmly anchored in the university's DNA.

Our transfer strategy

Knowledge transfer is a top priority at THI. As part of the triad of research, Studium und Alumni;Teaching and knowledge transfer, it is firmly embedded in the university’s identity.

Under the motto ‘Future in Motion’, THI aims to actively shape the future, continuously develop it further and view change as an opportunity. A key component of this is knowledge transfer to industry and society. This objective is enshrined in both the university’s mission statement and its development plan.

THI sees itself as a catalyst and driving force for a sustainable and economically successful region. Through a wide range of knowledge transfer activities, it is continually expanding this role and strengthening regional development.

The university maintains close ties with business, politics and civil society and is firmly rooted in the region through numerous networks. Its strong focus on knowledge transfer is evident, amongst other things, in its active pursuit of the ‘Third Mission’: study projects, laboratory courses and theses carried out in companies are integral parts of technology and knowledge transfer. Similarly, academic further education – particularly at the IAW – makes an important contribution by transferring knowledge gained by students on part-time study programmes directly into business practice.
