Transfer at THI

Transfer strategy

Knowledge transfer is a high priority at THI. As part of the triad of research, teaching and knowledge transfer, it is firmly embedded in the university’s identity.

Under the motto ‘The Future in Motion’, THI aims to actively shape the future, continuously develop it further and view change as an opportunity. A key component of this is knowledge transfer to industry and society. This objective is enshrined in both the mission statement and the university development plan.

THI sees itself as a catalyst and driving force for a sustainable and economically successful region. Through a wide range of knowledge transfer activities, it is continually expanding this role and strengthening regional development.

The university maintains close ties with business, politics and civil society and is firmly rooted in the region through numerous networks. Its strong focus on knowledge transfer is evident, amongst other things, in the active implementation of the ‘Third Mission’: study projects, work placements and final-year dissertations carried out in companies are integral parts of technology and knowledge transfer. Similarly, academic continuing education – particularly at the Campus for Continuing Education (TCW) – makes an important contribution by transferring knowledge gained by part-time students directly into business practice.
