  1. AImotion – Research at the AI hub

    The Ingolstadt AI Mobility Hub is dedicated to the AI-based mobility of the future. It focuses on the potential for innovation in the fields of autonomous driving, unmanned aerial vehicles, AI-based production and robotics, and new business models. The aim is also to translate research findings into practical applications and to foster the growth of start-ups.

  2. CARISSMA – Research into vehicle safety

    The CARISSMA Research and Test Centre at Ingolstadt University of Technology (THI) is designed to serve as a leading scientific centre for vehicle safety in Germany. The 123-metre-long research building came into operation in 2016 and, across more than 4,000 square metres of floor space, houses a total of ten test facilities, including an indoor test facility for crash tests and driving tests, a drop tower, a laboratory for Car2X communication, a laboratory for research into safe energy storage systems, a simulation laboratory and a HiL laboratory. In addition, CARISSMA has access to an open-air test area for full-vehicle tests, a driving simulator with a hexapod motion platform, and a pedestrian protection laboratory for the development of new testing and sensing methods.

  3. InES – Research into Renewable Energy

    In the face of global climate change and increasing resource scarcity, ensuring a secure and efficient energy supply based on renewable energy sources is one of the key challenges of our time. The environmentally friendly and cost-effective provision of renewable energy in the form of heat, electricity and fuel, its efficient use in buildings, industrial and commercial applications and for transport, as well as its smart system integration, raise numerous technological and economic issues.
