Application and recruitment process

Your first days at THI

It is essential for us that you have a good and positive start here at the THI. We want you to feel truly welcomed and provided with all the information necessary. On your first day your personal mentor, who will assist and guide you throughout the whole phase of familiarization, is picking you up. During the first couple of days and weeks your mentor will help you get access to all the necessary systems, explain important working processes to you, introduce you to all the departments and colleagues you will be working with and show you around the campus. Our Welcome Day, including a breakfast with the university management, constitutes the highlight of your familiarization phase.

Male and female presidents of Bavarian state universities have agreed on common minimum standards concerning the handling of fixed term contracts according to WissZeitVG. Application procedures for professors

After the advertising of the professorship the respective faculty is appointing a committee. The appointment committee is then reviewing all the applications received and organizing the application process with suitable candidates. The process includes a personal meeting with the committee and an invitation to hold public trial lectures on both a compulsory and an optional subject, which has to be communicated to the committee in advance, following a discussion. Most of the time one of the lectures has to be held in English.

The appointment committee is then choosing the most suitable among the remaining applicants and is putting their names on an appointment list which is then presented to the University management. Appointment hearings, especially with the president of the university, mark the end of the process.
