Off to the lecture theatre: start of registration for children's university in Ingolstadt and Eichstätt

Young researchers from the age of eight can get to the bottom of big questions as part of the children's university at Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) and the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt (KU): Because once again this autumn, free lectures for young scientists will take place on four Friday afternoons in both Ingolstadt and Eichstätt. Registration is now open.

Fascinating insights: This year, the Children’s University is once again presenting lectures across a range of disciplines (Photo: THI).

Between the 17th of October and the 21st of November, the lecturers will address topics from various disciplines: Thomas Haug, Professor of Physics and Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering at THI, will be speaking on the topic of "Magic and superpowers, we're turning the kitchen into a physics lab" and conducting amazing experiments. Norbert Paulo, Professor of Philosophy and Ethics of Digitalisation at the KU, will get to the bottom of the question of how humans should deal with Artificial Intelligence under the title "Humans, Robotics and AI". KU journalism graduate Annika-Franzetti will explain how journalists know which news is really true under the heading "Purple rhino spotted". Dr Tobias Huber, Assistant Professor for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence at THI, works with the audience to find out how Pacman, ChatGPT, and co. learn independently.

On the four children's university dates, the 17th and 24th of October as well as the 14th and 21st November, 45-minute lectures will take place from 4.15 pm in Eichstätt (Aula, KG Bau D, Ostenstr. 26) and Ingolstadt (lecture theatre E003/G011 Esplanade 10). The lecturers alternate so that each lecture is offered once in each city. Those who attend at least three of the four lectures will receive the Children's University Diploma at the end.

Registration for the lectures is now open online. Those interested can register for the events at the KU in Eichstätt at ku.de/kinderuni - for the events at the TH Ingolstadt at thi.de/kinderuni. The exact timetable for the locations and the conditions of participation can also be found on the respective pages.
