A guest lecture by Johannes Edler von Koch, CEO of Sparkasse International Bayern Süd, took place recently as part of the corporate finance specialisation module. The event was organised by Prof. Dr Mandy Habermann and was aimed at students on the International Management and Business Administration bachelor's degree programs at the THI Business School specialising in Controlling and Finance.
The lecture centred on practical corporate financing strategies, including bootstrapping, family-and-friends funding, traditional loans, interest rate hedging with derivatives, public funding programs, crowdfunding, and venture capital or business angels. The role of incubators and accelerators was also discussed. Numerous real-life examples made these approaches tangible.
The guest lecture provided participants with valuable insights into real-world corporate finance and encouraged an active exchange between learners, teaching staff and the guest speaker. Career pathways in finance and entrepreneurship were also discussed.
The Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration is also starting in the summer semester. Applications are still possible until 15 January. Further information can be found on the program page.
