Summary:

Within the ELS research group, numerous algorithms and methods are developed, in particular in the field of artificial intelligence for the optimization of battery management systems (BMS). For example, in the BMS, the sensor data of the individual cells - such as voltage, current, and temperature - are fused to improve their individual accuracy. In another example, data-based approaches diagnose cell aging and battery fault conditions. Taking into account the typical non-functional requirements for embedded systems such as costs, weight, efficiency and the safety-critical functional requirements of the BMS, solutions are developed by ELS in order to implement these algorithms in a practicable and cost-effective manner.Since, depending on the number of battery cells, the software for these algorithms is data- and computation-intensive, we optimize parallelization approaches, operating systems, communication interfaces and the software architecture of the BMS, in order to implement the artificial intelligence real-time capable, safe and platform-independent.
