Robustness, aging and qualification of battery systems and their safety-related components

In this project, a consistent and practice-oriented approach to the development of test procedures for the determination of the robustness, aging and qualification of battery systems and their safety-related components was demonstrated. Systematic approaches were designed as a guideline in order to be able to develop test procedures with systemic thinking and basic understanding of all potential errors or faulty influences of the system.
Due to the wide variety of designs and further development of the battery system in the automotive industry, a generic system is necessary to cover a variety of different systems. On the basis of the currently available battery systems and their components, a battery system was examined in order to identify typical failure mechanisms of the individual components. Modeling of a generic model is necessary because of the high complexity of the system in order to map the general function, structure and behavior of the battery systems in electric vehicles.
