Bavaria's universities of applied sciences (HAW), including Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI), are currently experiencing an unprecedented surge in development. As part of the High-Tech Agenda, 1200 positions are currently being created at the HAWs, including around 550 new professorships in exciting and innovative fields of study ranging from nursing to AI. With the campaign "Make more of your Dr. - Become a Professor!", the Bavarian universities are advertising the attractiveness of the profession of professor at an HAW with the aim of attracting the best minds to a career at the Bavarian universities.

The website: www.werdensieprof.de provides all those interested in a professorship at a university of applied sciences with all the information they need about the job description and the requirements they must meet to apply for an advertised professorial position. In addition, there are tips and information on how to acquire missing modules of the qualification.

"Practice Track" and "Doctoral Track"

The campaign also offers helpful information for the career model "junior professorship", an evaluation-based qualification programme for young academics, which is newly anchored in the Bavarian Higher Education Act. The model offers two career paths. The "doctoral track" is aimed at professional practitioners with an excellent Master's degree and at least three years of non-university professional experience, who primarily acquire the scientific qualification for a HAW professorship through the programme via a doctorate. The "Praxis Track" is aimed at post-docs who, within the framework of the programme, particularly complete the legally required practical work for an HAW professorship. The focus is on the professional practical post-qualification of outstanding post-docs with professorial potential. The goal of the programme is, upon successful evaluation, the acceptance of a W2 professorship for life.

The first junior professorships at the THI will start in the winter semester 2022/23. Further positions for junior professorships will be published before the summer break, including on "Production Technologies and Resource Efficiency" or "International Management".

The faces of the Bavarian campaign are 23 professors who have contributed to the campaign as role models and authentically demonstrate the profile of an HAW professorship. They report with genuine enthusiasm on their experiences as a professor at a Bavarian HAW. For THI, this is Prof. Dr Marc Aubreville, Research Professor for Image Understanding and Medical Application of Artificial Intelligence.
