Our study offers

With interdisciplinary knowledge from the fields of biology, medicine, health, electrical engineering and information technology, you will learn to develop innovative electronic devices or IT applications for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases and for improving health. To do this, you will use your broad interest in digital trends and the technical expertise you acquire during your academic studies. To enable you to work on tasks and technical challenges systematically and methodically, you will complete laboratory internships and practical phases throughout your studies, where you will acquire and develop these skills. You will strengthen your social and personal skills, which are important for working at the interface between technology and health, in group projects and seminars. A module on the basics of entrepreneurship rounds off the study course, to also prepare you for setting up a start-up in the field of life sciences.

Starting with the fundamentals of Engineering Sciences, such as mathematics, mechanics, construction, materials technology, thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, the focus soon turns to the human being – Biomechanics, with its sub-areas of human-machine interaction and sports and rehabilitation technology, offers a wide range of applications. The focus ranges from motion analysis to Paralympic sports equipment and high-performance sports. Exoskeletons can provide support wherever people have to lift heavy loads, for example in nursing care. When it comes to sports equipment, from bikes to skis, the trend is towards customisation: don't buy off the rack, but buy the equipment that best suits your body, for more fun and also more safety!

Within the highly dynamic high-tech sector of life sciences, the interdisciplinary Master's programme in Biomedical Sciences & Management (M.Sc.) is positioned as a specialised course of study with an industry-specific and application-oriented focus.
The programme specifically prepares graduates of economics, natural sciences, medical sciences and related bachelor's programmes for specialist and management roles in biotechnology, biomedical engineering and the pharmaceutical industry. Taking into account the latest scientific findings and application-oriented specialist knowledge, the programme qualifies graduates for interface functions in the life sciences – particularly in the areas of project and portfolio management, strategic planning, business development, R&D management, clinical operations management, CMC management, regulatory affairs and quality management.

The study course Computational Life Sciences focuses on digitalisation and computer science. You will learn how medical data is collected, visualised and analysed, how processes in the human body are simulated and how artificial intelligence can be used to find patterns in huge unstructured amounts of data that could, for example, provide clues to an illness. You will learn in an interdisciplinary way in the fields of computer science, health and life sciences. To be able to implement these skills in usable solutions such as healthcare apps, you will regularly exchange ideas with potential users such as doctors, patients or athletes. Internships and practical phases allow you to implement what you have learned early on, and to develop your own ideas together with your fellow students in group projects and seminars. A module on the basics of entrepreneurship rounds off the study course, to also prepare you for setting up a start-up in the field of life sciences.
