Vortrag "Clothing-integrated passive RFID technology: Fabrication, reliability and applications"

18.07.2019 14:00 - 15:30

Im Rahmen der Kooperation mit dem Institut für Innovative Mobilität hält Prof. Dr. Johanna Virkki von der Tampere University of Technology einen Vortrag an der THI, Raum B107:

Passive ultra high frequency (UHF) radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is a simple, cost-effective and maintenance-free method for identification and tracking of items and people. When integrated into clothing, it can be used for establishing versatile wearable wireless platforms, for example moisture and strain sensors and human-technology interfaces. This presentation will introduce passive UHF RFID technology, fabrication methods of textile-integrated wireless platforms, and a few application examples of such clothing-integrated systems.

Johanna Virkki received her M.Sc. and D.Sc. degrees from Tampere University of Technology (Finland) in 2008 and 2010, respectively. She is currently Academy Research Fellow and Adjunct Professor in Tampere University (Finland), where her research focuses on clothing-integrated wireless systems.
