Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Wolfgang A. Herrmann, President Emeritus of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), is the new Chairman of the University Council of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI).

Herrmann was president of the Technical University of Munich from 1995 to 2019, during which time he shaped it into a cosmopolitan and highly respected university. Today, TUM is one of Germany's most research-intensive universities and has consistently qualified as a university of excellence since 2006. The chemist, who holds a post-doctoral degree and has received numerous national and international awards, played a key role in shaping the reform of the Bavarian Higher Education Act at the end of the 1990s. As president emeritus, Herrmann continues to be involved in a wide range of activities. Among other things, he is a board member of the non-profit TUM University Foundation and is involved in promoting talent and attracting funding partners. Herrmann was recently appointed as chairman of the founding advisory board of the German Ministry of Transport's "German Center for Future Mobility," which will receive funding of 320 million euros in its first four years.
