The University:Future Festival, the online event on higher education in the digital transformation, will take place from 2 to 4 November under the motto "Open for Discussion". The Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) is participating as a partner. THI professor Dr Sebastian Apel will also be taking part as a speaker.

The University:Future Festival aims to become the largest and most relevant event on higher education in the digital age. The great response to the 2020 festival shows that this form of exchange format is needed. Everyone involved has learned a lot from the three Corona semesters. Now the time has come to set the course for the future of higher education. That is why the festival is now entering its second round. Over three days in November, more than a thousand people will come together digitally to discuss topics such as hybrid learning, diversity, artificial intelligence and future skills.

THI is increasing its involvement in AI education topics with two research projects ("HanS" and "THI-SuccessAI"). It is using the festival to publicise its research on AI education topics, to present initial results and to discuss them. THI Professor Dr. Sebastian Apel (Faculty of Computer Science, Department of Programming and Software Engineering) will speak on 3 November from 1.30 to 2 p.m. on the topic of "Moodle meets Markdown: Interactive Lecture Content without External Platform Dependency".

The content: The design of lecture material - whether continuous text, slide sets, videos or quizzes - requires extensive knowledge in the subject area as well as a considerable investment of time. The choice of tools and platforms used thus have a far-reaching influence and must be well considered. Questions regarding data protection and data sovereignty are an important clue here. But what if the conditions of access change? What if aspects of the platforms change? What if platforms are no longer offered? To avoid these difficulties, the idea arose to write the content of events in a general markup language (Markdown) and to integrate it appropriately into the university's ecosystem without creating external dependencies. The talk will focus on experiences with the implementation, operation and provision of the interactive offerings.

The University:Future Festival is organised by the Hochschulforum Digitalisierung and the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre. It is supported by numerous partners.
