THI becomes an associated supporter of the German Science and Innovation House São Paulo

With the admission of THI as an associated supporter of DWIH São Paulo in April, the relations between both institutions and corresponding network partners are to be deepened. For THI, which already maintains intensive relations with various Brazilian universities and companies through its AWARE Center, Brazil is the most important partner in Latin America. The closer cooperation with the DWIH São Paulo now enables an expansion of the AWARE network to other institutions as well as a closer networking with already existing German-Brazilian networks.

The German Houses of Science and Innovation, based in the five metropolitan areas of New York, São Paulo, Moscow, New Delhi and Tokyo, were founded at the initiative of the Federal Foreign Office to increase the visibility and awareness of German innovation agencies worldwide, to advise key players in Germany and the countries in which they are based on research, science and innovation, and to network them locally. The DWIH network is coordinated worldwide by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

THI has been in contact with DWIH for ten years, when DWIH organized the first delegation trip of Prof. Thomas Brandmeier and Georg Overbeck to São Paulo. Subsequently, THI's first German-Brazilian electromobility forum was approved in Brazil as part of the Germany Year 2013, a start-up grant for the following six-year series of events.

In order to be able to actively participate in the DWIH's offers and use various consulting services, universities have the opportunity to join the DWIH network as associated supporters. Prior to joining, an application must be submitted in which, among other things, the university's own contribution to the network is outlined. Convinced of the added value of the AWARE network partners from science and industry in Brazil, the THI was approved to join the DWIH network as an Associated Supporter. DWIH São Paulo has nine main supporters (with offices and staff on site) and 15 associated supporters, including the German-Brazilian Chamber of Industry and Commerce São Paulo, the German Embassy São Paulo, the Technical Universities of Berlin, Darmstadt, BAYLAT, RWTH Aachen, the Max Planck Society, the Leibniz Association and UAS7, the Alliance of Seven Research-Oriented German Universities of Applied Sciences.

By joining, AWARE will benefit in the future from the numerous opportunities to participate in networking and innovation events, from grants for workshops and finally from a higher visibility of the ongoing cooperation projects of the AWARE Center in Brazil.
