THI students develop fitness app for training analysis

Students dedicate themselves to a sporting task: The "Immortal Digital Fitness Solutions" app offers personalized advice on equipment training and networking with a community.

Students of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) have developed an app that enables fitness studios to retain their customers in the long term without losing their motivation to train. This is how the basic idea of "Immortal Digital Fitness Solutions" was born, a fitness app that is currently in use as a prototype.

The creative minds behind the app are the four students Ann-Kathrin Hofer, Daniel Knerlein, Robin Popp and Xinyi Li. "We like to train in fitness studios ourselves, so the training documentation quickly becomes very complex. That's why we wanted to develop a simple system that automatically transfers the data from the training device to the smartphone via Bluetooth," explains Ann-Kathrin Hofer. Instead of having to record the sports units with a pad and pen, "Immortal" now does the job. And the athlete can continue to focus on his training.
A specially developed gadget called "Eyeron" measures the distance to the inserted pin in the weights of devices with a weight lifting and lowering mechanism and transmits this data to the app.  An intelligent algorithm not only determines the number of repetitions and weights, but also saves the training plan. In the future, the user app will work synergistically with other fitness app developers and wearables such as heart rate monitors to generate a holistic training plan and collect every type of physical activity - from steps to online workouts - in a shared database.

Via a social platform in the app, users can exchange information and compete against each other in playful competitions. In the long term, the "Immortal" team wants to find out how users of the app can train to achieve the best results. To this end, the start-up company is cooperating with several fitness studios.
