In view of the Corona crisis, Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) has set up a special budget of over 100,000 euros for student assistants. With this budget, the THI is creating an income opportunity for students whose part-time jobs have been lost in the course of the crisis. "With the special budget, we want to help students in particular who are dependent on a sideline income to finance their studies. With their work in areas where we currently have a need - such as the digitalisation of teaching - the students can support our professors through your work and earn money at the same time," says THI President Prof. Dr. Walter Schober.
For example, the student assistants help prepare digital lecture scripts, create interactive elements such as chats or quizzes, or help supervise students via video tutorials.
Lisa Knopf, a student in the Bachelor's programme in International Management, is one of the students who supports the university's digital teaching and is financed from the new special budget. "Since my working student job at an automotive supplier has been cancelled due to short-time work, I am very happy about this new source of income. I am dependent on this income, as I use it to finance my livelihood and also to enable me to study".
Students who are not dependent on the additional income also benefit from the proximity to the THI. Maike Hübner, a student in the Master's programme Retail & Consumer Management, reports: "The job as an assistant brings us students and lecturers even closer together. We students now understand much better how much work is behind the digital lectures and are happy to be able to help".
Mario Unterbrunner, a student in the master's degree program in Marketing/Sales/Media, emphasizes the social aspect: "With the Corona crisis, all leisure activities have been eliminated. With my job, I can continue to use my free time meaningfully alongside my studies. It feels good to make a real contribution with my work. For me it's a social enrichment."
