Preparations for a scheduled start of teaching operations at the new satellite campus of Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) in Neuburg for the winter semester 2021/22 continue to run at full speed. The process of acquiring the land on the site of the former Lassigny barracks has been largely completed. In the long term, a campus for the new "Sustainable Infrastructure" faculty with 1200 students is to be built here. The focus of the study programs will be on construction, energy and the environment.

Construction work has already begun. By the winter semester of 2021/22, the first of the listed buildings on the Lassigny site will have been renovated. Around 80 students will then start there on the Bachelor's degree courses "Sustainability and Environmental Management" and "Industrial Engineering and Construction", which are unique in Bavaria.

Plans also call for the construction of a modular building for around 500 students, which will be ready for occupancy in the winter semester of 2022/23. The degree programs "Civil Engineering" and "Digital Building Technology" will be added and the number of students will grow accordingly. The first construction phase, which includes the renovation of the old buildings and the construction of the new buildings, is scheduled for completion by 2025/26. By then, the range of courses will be supplemented by the two bachelor's degree programs "Transportation and Infrastructure Engineering" and "Environmental and Energy Engineering". The second construction phase envisages the campus finally being completed by 2027/28. By 2030, a total of eleven bachelor's and master's degree programs will have been successively established. The number of students will then be around 1200.

Prof. Dr. Walter Schober, President of Ingolstadt University of Technology: "With the Neuburg Campus, we are creating a lively knowledge quarter where students can learn, research and live. With Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jana Sue Bochert, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Holzhammer and Prof. Dr. Holger Hoppe, we have a committed founding team on site. We will fill additional professorships by the summer semester of 2022."

Prof. Dr. Holger Hoppe is founding professor for the teaching area "Sustainability and Environmental Management" (NAUM) at THI. Most recently, he worked as Senior Director of Sustainability Management at the KION Group and Linde Material Handling GmbH. From 2009 to 2012, he was responsible for sustainability as well as environmental protection and occupational safety at SCHOTT Solar AG.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Holzhammer is research professor for energy systems engineering at THI. He supports the development of the Energy Systems Engineering research group at the Institute for New Energy Systems (InES) at the THI site in Neuburg an der Donau. From 2011 to 2016, he was head of the thematic focus on demand-driven energy supply at the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jana Sue Bochert will take over the founding professorship of the study program "Industrial Engineering and Construction" at THI as of March 01, 2021. She is currently head of the structural engineering department at Scherr+Klimke AG. Previously, she was head of the department of structural dynamics at the Kempen Krause Group and worked as an expert for structural behavior at TÜV SÜD Energietechnik. Professor Bochert received her doctorate in 2012 from the TU Dresden at the Institute of Statics and Dynamics.
