A festival of superlatives awaits Ingolstadt next Friday, 24 June. The Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences (THI) is organising the ON Campus Festival, the biggest event since the THI was founded - a colourful mix of hands-on science, art, family activities and a party. The festival starts at 3 pm. A fireworks display of over 90 programme items will be offered on the THI grounds. Admission is free.

Science ON

The festival is part of the City of Ingolstadt's Year of Science and offers varied insights into the life of the university, combined with many activities and attractions for adults and children. You can get to know the different research areas of the THI at first hand, for example in experiments with the 3D printer, in hands-on activities in the welding lab or in virtual reality cycling. Science is explained in a comprehensible way, sometimes playfully, as in the robot game programmed by students, sometimes musically, as in the sound experience journey. Numerous workshops are also on offer, such as the production of natural cosmetics or website programming. In a model aeroplane flight competition, there is a take-off and landing in a flight simulator to be won, and in a demonstration, the future of cancer research can be discovered.

Those who want to will also have opportunities to explore the campus: for example, as part of a Mobility Challenge with e-scooters, rickshaws or the Audi e-tron. A Roof Top Tour gives a spectacular overview of the campus and the city, combined with information on planned construction projects and the future development of the THI. And there are also guided tours and an exhibition by regional artists (Angelika Schweiger, Fredrik Lindqvist, Richard Gruber and Michael Priebe) in the historic Villa Heydeck, home of the Institute for Academic Continuing Education.

Many programme items are aimed specifically at children and young people. They can make key rings with macramé art, make graffiti artworks, treat the THI teddy using artificial intelligence and medical technology, programme a LEGO robot themselves and much more.

Arts ON

In cooperation with the Stadttheater Ingolstadt, the play "I was a human being" will premiere at the festival in a hybrid form of theatre and film. It will be performed at 6.30 pm and 8.30 pm in the CARISSMA Hall of the THI. Admission is free, reservations are requested at the theatre box office or in the theatre's web shop.

Party ON

From 5.30 p.m. until late at night, various DJs will provide a lively party atmosphere. At 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. the campus grounds will be transformed into an open-air museum of digital art with a light show.

Food and drink will be provided throughout the day with various offers and food trucks: among other things, there will be a Bavarian beer garden, a cocktail bar and fresh popcorn, prepared in a climate-friendly solar cooker. There will also be live music.

"The ON Campus Festival is the biggest event since the THI was founded," says President Prof. Dr. Walter Schober. "We invite all citizens to the campus to join us for an exciting and entertaining day at THI."

The festival is easy to reach by public transport, and there is also parking in the neighbouring Congress underground car park. The THI is a five-minute walk from the Volksfest car park and from the central bus station in Ingolstadt.
