The Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt (THI) has a new vice-president: The University Council of the THI elected Prof. Dr. Katherine Roegner as Vice-President for Teaching and Digitization. Roegner is Professor of Mathematics at the University's Faculty of Computer Science. Her responsibilities as Vice-President include the further development of digital teaching and quality management at the THI within the framework of system accreditation. She also coordinates the areas of student counseling, career service and talent promotion and is the contact person for the student council and student associations.

After completing her studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Prof. Dr. Roegner received her doctorate in 1999 at the Technical University of Berlin, where she also completed her habilitation in 2014 in the subject area "University Didactics of Mathematics". Here she was responsible for the development of models for the use of digital media in teaching. In between, the US-born American taught as Guest Assistant Professor at Eckerd College in Florida and as Assistant Professor at Southeastern Lousiana University in the field of mathematics. After working for a German science magazine for some time, she was a substitute professor at the Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences at the Institute for Skills Development there. Roegner finally accepted the call to the THI in 2016. In addition to her professorship, she is also the university's women's representative and a trusted lecturer of the German National Academic Foundation. She is a member of the examination board and, as a mentor in the "THI Talent" support program, advises particularly gifted and committed students.

Professor Roegner: "Classroom teaching is increasingly supported by digital offerings. These create freedom for interaction, new opportunities for individualization and support students in the self-learning process. These aspects are of central importance in my work. I would like to contribute new impulses and support my colleagues in developing concepts and formats that fit their subject and address students as individuals. If we help students to learn how to learn, they will be well prepared for lifelong learning".

THI President Prof. Dr. Walter Schober: "I am very pleased that with Prof. Dr. Roegner we have gained a proven expert in the field of university didactics. Her professional expertise, proven by her habilitation and her international background will further enrich our cooperation".

The THI's university management consists of the President, the three Vice-Presidents and the Chancellor.
